I teach the following courses at Georgia Tech, focused on understanding and shaping computing’s impact on society.
Future of Work
This course introduces graduate and undergraduate students to different facets of the relationship between work and technology. Through discussion of readings in sociology and HCI, we examine how different actors, from tech companies, to policymakers, to unions, and various economic, political, and cultural forces, are shaping the future of work. Oral presentations and a semester-long course project allow students to explore themes and current events of their choosing in more depth, while developing analytical, argumentation, and writing skills.
Intro to User Interface Design
This course introduces undergraduate students to design thinking, or the ability to thoughtfully and creatively intervene in complex problems while centering people’s experiences over assumptions. Through a semester-long studio project, class exercises, and lectures, students identify an impactful and timely problem space, conduct user research to identify persistent gaps, and gain experience with ideating, prototyping, and evaluating a design intervention.
